Privacy Policy

TL;DR: We collect your email and watchlist to deliver SEC filing summaries. We don't sell your data. We use cookies only to keep you logged in. You can delete your account and data anytime.

What We Collect

When you use Stonk Scope, we collect:

  • Google account info — your name, email address, and profile image, provided by Google when you sign in via OAuth
  • Watchlist preferences — which tickers you follow
  • Email digest preferences — whether you've opted in to weekly digest emails
  • Usage data — pages visited and feature interactions, collected via Vercel Analytics in aggregate with no way to identify individual users (no cookies, no personal data)

We do not collect financial account information, brokerage credentials, or trading activity.

How We Use It

We use your data to:

  • Deliver AI-generated weekly summaries of SEC filings for tickers you follow
  • Send email digests if you've opted in
  • Personalize your watchlist experience
  • Improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns

Legal Basis for Processing

If you're in a jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing personal data (such as the EU under GDPR):

  • Consent — for sending weekly email digests. You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • Legitimate interest — for core product delivery (showing summaries for tickers you follow) and for aggregate analytics to improve the service.
  • Contractual necessity — for maintaining your account and providing the service you signed up for.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate Stonk Scope. Your data may be processed by them under their own privacy policies:

  • Supabase — database hosting (data stored in the United States)
  • Vercel — application hosting and privacy-focused analytics
  • Resend — email delivery
  • Google — OAuth authentication
  • Anthropic— AI-powered filing analysis (SEC filing text is sent to Anthropic's API for summarization; no personal user data is included in these requests)

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers. The only third parties that process your data are the service providers listed above, and only as necessary to operate Stonk Scope.

Cookies

We use session cookies solely for authentication purposes. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookie trackers.

Data Storage and Transfers

Your data is stored on servers in the United States via Supabase and Vercel. If you access Stonk Scope from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the service, you acknowledge this transfer.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. If you unsubscribe from email digests without an account, we delete your email address within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregate analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

Your Rights

All users can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Unsubscribe from email digests at any time

If you are in the EU/EEA (GDPR), you also have the right to:

  • Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format)
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Restrict processing of your data
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

If you are in the United States, certain state privacy laws (such as the CCPA in California) may give you the right to:

  • Know what categories of personal information we collect and why
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt out of the sale of personal information — though we do not sell your data
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Children

Stonk Scope is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through a notice on the site. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
